Welcome to the Sacred Heart Sport and PE page. Here you will find information on our PE curriculum, extra-curricular sports clubs and sports competitions the school has entered.
At Sacred Heart we are proud to offer a varied, engaging PE curriculum and an extensive timetable of extra-curricular sport. Children are regularly selected to represent the school at Borough competitions and all children get the opportunity to experience competition in inter-house sport every half term, as well as participating in our annual sports day.
Our children receive three terms of swimming lesson, one term in Year 2 and two terms in Year 3. School lessons, coupled with regular practice gives our children the best opportunity to learn to swim confidently and unaided by the time they leave primary school.
PE kit and expectations
All children should have a full PE kit in school from Monday-Friday. Their PE kit must contain a yellow Sacred Heart polo shirt, navy shorts or skort, a plain navy blue PE sweatshirt, clean socks and a pair of trainers (or plimsolls up to Year 2). PE is taught both inside and outside all year round, so children are also advised to have a pair of plain navy blue tracksuit bottoms in school during the winter months.
If a child is unable to do PE they will still be included in the lesson, often this will involve, scoring, officiating or coaching. Where a child is physically able, they must still get changed into their PE kit for the lesson. This ensures their school uniform stays dry and clean, and they are warm and comfortable for the rest of the day.
If your child is injured or ill they should bring a letter from a parent or career explaining this.
