  • Science

Along with English, maths and R.E. science remains one of the core subjects at Sacred Heart Primary School.

In Science we aim to build on children’s natural curiosity and develop and scientific approach to problem solving. We also strive to make science as practical as possible, linking it to real life contexts and giving a meaning to our learning.

    Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM)

Thanks to funding from the PSA we are currently on our way to achieving the Primary Science Quality Mark. The PSQM is a supported school-led initiative which will make a positive difference to the quality and profile of science in our school. It is also the only national award for science in primary schools.

    Send us your Science

On this section of the page, we would like to showcase some of the science you have tried at home. If you have conducted any experiments at home and you are willing to share, please take a short video and we will post it here.

    Science Capital - an introduction

What is Science Capital? And why does it matter? This animation explains the compelling concept originally developed by King's Professor Louise Archer and her team. King's College London, the Science Museum and BP are working together on the Enterprising Science project to build young people's science capital and increase their engagement with science.
