Vision

At Sacred Heart we are committed to delivering a well-rounded Physical Education that fulfils the aims of the National Curriculum. We help pupils develop fundamental movement skills, confidence, and engagement in physical activity, supporting them from Key Stage 1 through Key Stage 2 with opportunities in competitive sports and active, healthy living.

Aims

  • At least 100 minutes of PE per week (PPESP Key Indicator: 1)
  • Encouraging 60 minutes of daily physical activity (PPESP Key Indicator: 1)
  • Whole school ethos of physical activity and wellbeing (PPESP Key Indicator: 2)
  • Wide range of sports and leadership opportunities (PPESP Key Indicator: 4)
  • Access to competitions (PPESP Key Indicator: 5)
  • Swimming provision and national curriculum targets
  • Workforce development for PE delivery (PPESP Key Indicator: 3)

Swimming Achievement

Top-up swimming lessons provided for KS2 pupils. 75% of Year 5 pupils were able to swim 25m.

Next Steps and Sustainability

  • Expand nursery and EYFS PE provision
  • Maintain MSSP Gold/Platinum mark
  • Increase external partnerships and staff development
  • Wider access to clubs, especially for disadvantaged pupils
