    Welcome to our Governors’ section.

    Please find below details of how our Governing body is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities and terms of appointment for each Governor.

    Governors work in partnership with the Headteacher and staff to promote high standards of educational achievement and to drive the strategic direction of the school. The Governing Body is made up of parent, staff, community and local authority representatives. We welcome feedback from parents so if you have any comments, if you wish to know more or if you are interested in becoming a governor in the future, please contact the school.

    The Governing Body meets regularly to review the activities of the school and to consult and decide on its future direction. The Governing Body's responsibilities include:

    • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;

    • Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and

    • Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent

    (Governance Handbook, October 2020)

    In addition to the full Governing Body meetings the Governing Body delegates certain responsibilities and more detailed discussion to its three committees:

    • Achievement and Curriculum
    • Safeguarding, Community, Ethos and Admissions
    • Resources

    The responsibilities of each committee are set out in the Terms of Reference which are available on request.

    Governing Body meetings are usually held in the evening. Governors regularly attend training sessions and seminars to keep up to date with changes in schools and the wider education sector. They also meet with the Head Teacher, other members of staff and pupils to find out how the school is progressing towards its targets.

    Minutes of the Governing Body meetings are in the school office and paper copies can be made available on request.

    Membership of the school's current Governing Body is set out below:
